The organization seeks to address the issues surrounding youth education and employment. The organization will be launching soon, whereby the contact details, physical address and further details will be revealed. BCD hopes to achieve all its objectives and expand its reach to a national level. Youth Development is Youth Empowerment!!!
Information and Advisory Centre
Baswapele Career Development is an Information Advisory Centre offering support and advice to secondary school learners, college and university students, individuals interested in studying at the university and/or college and also assisting graduates with internship programmes and job opportunities. Besides providing information, we also work closely with a range of professionals who provide expert advice and counselling services. At a later stage we will establish several branches where we will always be prepared to help you. We are a directory providing a list of all colleges and universities in South Africa and we provide helpful tips for finding grants, loans and scholarships.
Bursaries, Grants and Scholarships
We identify highly potential young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and circumstances and afford them the opportunity to realise their potential in educational centres of excellence during their senior school years. We also introduce programmes which focus on the development of study skills, life skills, career guidance and assistance with applications to tertiary institutions and bursary schemes for further study. We provide several options for financial assistance for attending a college or university inside and outside South Africa, including government financial aid, bursary and award programs.
Leadership and Mentorship
We aim to create an enriched academic experience by maintaining regular contact and providing a support network during academic, social and personal development and also become a point-of-reference for our community. Our mentoring programmes are furnished in a manner that guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. We also provide basic leadership skills and techniques to build future leaders.
Baswapele Career Development Public Mini Library program will be the contact point for future libraries and book refills. We promote literacy and learning through a self-sustaining mini library network in our communities. We aim to provide barrier-free access to books for children and families within walking distance of their home; a focus of the program is on enriching the youth.
Computer Literacy and Internet Centre
Provide access to information through internet particularly in rural area. Offer computer literacy to enable the ability to use computers and related technology efficiently, with a range of skills covering levels from elementary use to programming and advanced problem solving and related technological devices. Learners can be able to type, print and photocopy CVs, IDs, and Certificates etc.
Initiate and be involved in raising awareness to the general public that a certain issue exists. However, in practice, raising awareness is often combined with other activities, such as fundraising, membership drives, or advocacy, in order to harness and/or sustain the motivation of new supporters, which may be at its highest just after they have learned and digested the new information.
